Whenever I'm in a rush to get out the door and I only have time to apply minimal makeup this shadow pencil is one of the few things that I grab. The CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencils come in ten different shades. The colour I picked up was #340 Ginger Flame. Here is a short statement from the CoverGirl Website:
Two versatile products in one brilliant pencil! With Flamed Out Shadow Pencil, you get vivid, creamy color plus the definition of eyeliner for the bold eye looks you crave.
When I first picked this up in store I just assumed this would be a twist-up pencil type thing, but too my disappointment it is a wooden pencil that needs to be sharpened (sigh). So keep that in mind if you're interested in buying!
Like the CoverGirl website said, this pencil can be used as both an eyeliner or an all over the lid shadow. The consistency is smooth and creamy and not at all greasy. It is very easy and quick to apply and there is no dragging or tugging of the skin. When applied the product is easy to blend with a brush or even just your fingers but after a few minutes it will set up and not budge at all. I have not used this product with a primer yet, but I can say that the lasting power is pretty good. Towards the end of the day it is mostly gone but I'm sure with the help of a good eyeshadow primer it will last throughout the evenings as well.
I have also noticed that after application there is a slight cooling feeling. I'm not too sure how to explain it apart from saying that my eyelids felt a bit cold after (lol) but it isn't bothersome in anyway just a bit strange.
Ginger Flame is an almost frosty, rose-gold colour with some shimmer to it. I find that it really helps to brighten up the look of my (very sleepy) eyes on early mornings. The pigmentation is great and doesn't really fade much after blending which is quite nice. You can build up the shadow to a more vivid and intense colour, or you can use it simply as a base for other eyeshadows and products. I will usually use this in the corners of my eyes or it's used to line my upper and lower lash lines.
I really do like this product and I'm tempted to go buy a few more. There are nine other shades on the CoverGirl website, I have my eye on Melted Caramel Flame (even the name sounds so delicious)!

Tempting! I will have to check it out. :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen some ads for the flamed out collection, but haven't read any reviews. I would definitely prefer one that you don't have to sharpen (lazy me) but the colour looks nice~
