Early Saturday morning I went down to the St. Lawrence Market with my parents to browse the wide selection of produce and grab a few things. I was really happy to see that this week they had some squash for sale! It's made me incredibly excited for Autumn to begin! We picked up some strawberries which I used in making my delicious strawberry loaf (blogged about it here) as well as some purple (!!!) peppers and carrots! So cool!
After having last weekend off due to the long weekend, this Sunday I was back in class. We started our fondant and gum paste unit where we learned how to properly cover a cake with fondant - ahh it's so fun to use! - and how to make gum paste. We were given a styrofoam "cake" to practise decorating with and heres what I did! I used 50/50 (a mixture of fondant and gum paste) to create the flowers and the pearl boarder around the bottom. It's not amazing but I think it's pretty cute and simple!
I hope you all had a great weekend and happy Monday!
Wow that cake is really impressive ! The course sounds really good.

DeleteYum! Everything looks incredibly delicious! I'm visiting Toronto soon so maybe I'll have to browse the St. Lawrence Market while I'm there.
